OUR COMPANY
Afro Fishing (Pty) Ltd was started in 2007 in Mossel Bay. The core business comprises a canning operation located in Mossel Bay harbour and produces pilchards in tomato sauce and pilchards in chilli sauce for domestic markets. The business also has an ice plant and fishing vessel. This is the only fish cannery on the south and east coasts of South Africa.

In order to generate sustainable financial returns for our investors,

- Source pilchard raw material at suitable pricing
- Grow the business into other pelagic products and processes
- Identify and manage all business risks
OUR PRODUCTS
We produce 400g canned pilchards for several markets:
- A large % of our production goes into the National Schools Nutrition Programme where we supply ‘affordable protein’ for school feeding. We are an approved Department of Basic Education canned fish supplier.
- We supply some private label companies (who retail into Spar and Shoprite)
- We also contract pack for some of the bigger retail brands
We do have our own brands, namely Mossel Bay brand and
Value brand.
